And that’s exactly what I did…
Again, I profusely apologise for my lack of posting. I was away on a fantastic trip in France with shocking WiFi, so despite all my best efforts to keep you all updated, I kinda fell flat on my face.
Anyway! This trip took me away from all of the daily stress, my busy schedules and constantly looking at my phone.
Instead I explored the wonderful area of Normandy, visited loads of historical sites, and practised my French speaking in their local markets. I even became more active and went on (wait for it) 8k runs!
Now, I’m not saying that you should all go for 8k runs at 6:30 in the morning, but what I am saying is that you should try and take a good chunk out of your normal schedule if it is in any way possible.
Weekends are hardly rest bite as many people work weekend jobs and we tend to catch up on all that lost sleep. Once you’ve finally got round to chilling out, the weekend is over and it’s back to normal.
Taking a week off was one of the best things that I ever did, yes it was with college so I wasn’t completely skiving and just going rogue. But it was a change of scenery and it put everything into perspective.
I found that I felt lighter and happier. I wasn’t carrying the burden of 20 assignments and individual projects to work on, I was enjoying looking around castles and museums and learning information freely.
Before going on the trip, I was handed a shed load of work which surprisingly I found the time to do. Yet it didn’t feel like a chore as I had spent the majority of the day enjoying myself, and it turned out that I did more than I should have done. If I hadn’t have been on the trip, I would still be the little stress-ball that I am.
As human beings in a world which is working 24/7, we are constantly under pressure to perform and to be working at a pace which is quite frankly, unachievable.
We need to have a break which is longer than just two days as our bodies can’t cope with the constant weight it carries around.
Remember that work and school isn’t the end of the world. There is so much to learn and explore outside that environment and we need to give ourselves that time to do so.
Till next time biscuit breakers!
