Behind the Mask

You don’t know me. You came to me because I knew you. You found comfort in my integrity, my white suit, my blue mask and latex gloves which concealed the nails I bite habitually. I saved you from heart-breaking situations: cancer, leukaemia, and necrosis. I’ve seen thousands of people like you in my lifetime. It’s like a revolving door; one leaves me all fixed up, the next comes in broken. Most of you never forget. But you never come back. On the outside, I’m an outlander. You’d only know me if you wanted help. So, how can I help you?

It’s a short one, I know. 100 words exactly, but I feel that it works being short. I tried to put myself in the shoes of a doctor who lives a monotonous life and is desperate for being somebody outside their job. Hopefully it will make people appreciate doctors more.
